Abstract
Waste that currently potential to cause water pollution is plastic, especially microplastic. The distribution of microplastics is not only found in waters, but also in aquatic biota. Green mussels (Perna viridis) cultivated in Mangkang Wetan coastal waters have the opportunity to be contaminated with microplastics. The aim of this research were to determine the abundance of microplastics based on shape, colour, polymer and the relationship pattern between the abundance of aquatic microplastics and green mussels (P. viridis). Data collection was carried out using a random sampling method on the distribution of green mussel cultivation by taking water samples and green mussels which were analyzed using quantitative analysis methods. Data analysis uses ANOVA and regression analysis. The research results obtained 4 types of microplastic forms in waters and 3 types of forms in green mussels, which were dominated by fragment forms. There are 7 colours found, namely yellow, green, blue, black, transparent, brown and red with brown being the dominant colour. There are 9 types of polymers, namely Polyvinyl chloride, Polyethylene terephthalate, Polypropylene, Low-density polyethylene, High density polyethylene, Nylon, Cellulose acetate, Polyethersulfone and Polystyrene with Polyethylene terephthalate as the dominant polymer. The abundance of aquatic microplastics and green mussels at station 1 was 6.33 ± 0.45 particles/liter and 4.91 ± 2.32 particles/ind, station 2 was 2.33 ± 0.49 particles/liter and 1.33 ± 0.28 particles/ind, station 3 was 4,63 ± 0,32 particles/liter and 2.91 ± 1.18 particles/ind. The results of the ANOVA on the abundance of aquatic microplastics obtained a significance value of 0.00 < 0.05. and the results of ANOVA on the abundance of green mussel microplastics obtained a significance value of 0.072 > 0.05. The results of the regression analysis obtained an exponential pattern with a determination value (R2) of 0.685.
