Article 1
These Regulations define and harmonize the relations in the work of the persons responsible for editing and publishing the journal Croatian Journal of Fisheries (hereinafter: CJF).
The journal is registered as follows:

Article 2
The publishers of CJF are the University of Zagreb Faculty of Agriculture, Svetošimunska 25, Zagreb, and the Croatian Chamber of Economy, Rooseveltov trg 2, 10 000 Zagreb.
Article 3
The seat of the journal is at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Agriculture, Svetošimunska 25, Zagreb.
Article 4
Scope of the Journal
CJF is a scientific journal publishing original and review scientific papers, short and preliminary communications, as well as professional papers and contributions from the scientific fields of biotechnical sciences, natural sciences and related disciplines, particularly fisheries and related fields.
CJF publishes papers written in English and Croatian and is open to all authors.
Article 5
Publication Frequency
One volume is published annually, consisting of four issues in both print and electronic editions. The electronic edition is available on the website of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Zagreb.
Article 6
Objectives of the Journal

To contribute to the advancement of knowledge and experience in fisheries, particularly to the development of a scientific approach to solving fisheries-related problems.

To promote the international character of the journal and scientific research cooperation at national, regional, and global levels.

To act as a high-quality yet open and friendly forum where all authors have the opportunity to present their ideas, results, and experiences, which will be discussed impartially and constructively, and where possible, assistance will be provided in shaping a scientifically sound article.

To promote scientific integrity.
Article 7
Composition of the Editorial Board
The Editorial Board consists of:

President of the Editorial Board

Members of the Editorial Board

Honorary Members of the Editorial Board
The Editor-in-Chief shall be appointed from the ranks of assistant professors to full professors or research associates to senior research advisors in the fields of biotechnical sciences, natural sciences and related sciences, particularly fisheries and related disciplines.
Members of the Editorial Board are scientists and academic staff from the Republic of Croatia (domestic Editorial Board members) and scientists from abroad (international Editorial Board members).
The Editor-in-Chief and the President of the Editorial Board constitute the Managing Board.
Article 8
Duties of the Editor-in-Chief

To represent and promote the journal in the national and international scientific community.

To prepare and submit applications for financial support for publishing the journal in accordance with the instructions of the competent Ministry.

To manage the financial resources of CJF received from the Ministry responsible for science and other revenues, in accordance with Editorial Board decisions.

To inform authors of manuscript receipt.
-
To conduct a detailed review of manuscripts and decide on further procedures.
-
To inform the author if the manuscript is not suitable for peer review due to topic, quality, or technical preparation.

To select appropriate reviewers.
-
To receive and evaluate reviews and decide on further procedures.

To inform authors of manuscript status according to the review form:
(a) acceptable after minor revision
(b) acceptable after moderate revision
(c) reconsidered after major revision
(d) not acceptable for publication -
To decide on manuscript status after revision.

To submit an annual report to the Editorial Board.
Article 9
Duties of the President of the Editorial Board
-
To promote the journal in accordance with agreed objectives.
-
To coordinate between Editorial Board members and the Editor-in-Chief.
-
To prepare meeting agendas, convene and chair meetings, record minutes and distribute them to domestic Editorial Board members.

To assist the Editor-in-Chief in selecting reviewers.
-
After completion of peer review:
-
forwarding papers for language editing;
-
technical editing;
-
sending manuscripts to authors for corrections;
-
preparing PDF files for the online-first website;
-
uploading PDFs to the online-first website;
-
forwarding materials for layout preparation for print;
-
publishing papers online after final layout preparation.

To monitor website traffic.
Article 10
Duties of Editorial Board Members and Honorary Members

To promote the journal.
-
To assist in selecting reviewers and propose suitable reviewers from their field.

To perform peer reviews within their expertise.
-
To publish their own papers in CJF where appropriate.
-
To follow scientific conferences regularly and encourage publication of fisheries-related conference papers as guest editors.
-
To promote thematic issues dedicated to specific scientific topics.
Article 11
Appointment and Term of the Editor-in-Chief and President
The Editor-in-Chief and President are appointed by the Editorial Board members for a term of five years. Reappointment is possible. Former Editors-in-Chief and Presidents become Honorary Members.
Article 12
Appointment and Term of Editorial Board Members
The Editorial Board is appointed for five years. Upon reappointment, the following will be evaluated:
a) Publication of papers in CJF
b) Willingness to cooperate for the benefit of CJF
Honorary members retain membership for life.
Article 13
Dismissal Procedure
The Managing Board and Editorial Board members may propose dismissal of a Board member or the Editor-in-Chief if inactivity or obstruction harms the journal’s development. The decision is made at a convened Editorial Board meeting.
Article 14
Remuneration
Editor-in-Chief – entitled to compensation depending on journal income.
President – entitled to compensation depending on journal income.
Editorial Board Members – unpaid; exceptional contributions may be compensated depending on income. Each member receives one complimentary copy of CJF.
Reviewers – unpaid; each reviewer receives a certificate.
Article 15
Publication Procedure
Scientific papers must undergo peer review by at least two reviewers. Wherever possible, at least one reviewer should be from abroad to encourage internationalization. The reviewer pool must extend beyond Editorial Board members.
Reviews may be conducted in Croatian for authors from Croatian-speaking regions and in English for foreign authors, using the CJF review form.
Manuscripts submitted to CJF must not be submitted elsewhere. Accepted papers may not be published in another journal.
Article 16
Entry into Force
These Regulations enter into force upon adoption at an Editorial Board meeting.
Article 17
Transitional Provisions
The appointment of the Editorial Board members and the Editor-in-Chief shall begin upon adoption of these Regulations at the first subsequent Editorial Board meeting.
