Abstract

Investigations of cyprinidae fish species were carried out during the seasons of 1985 and 1986 in the Prančevići reservoir lake and in the river Cetina up to Trilja. Data on the remaining families have been recorded by Habeković in 1993 and 1994. Cyprinidae fish species include: Leuciscus illyricus (Heck. and Kn.), Leuciscus uklivcz, (Heck), Leuciscus souffia muticellus (Bon.), Aulopyge hugeli (Heck.) and Carassius auratus gibelio (Bloch). Results of investigations are presented in Tables 1 and 2. The growth of the Leuciscus illyricus is very good and better in relation to the upstream and downstream area of Cetina. The L. ukliva grows well. The L. s. muticellus and A. Hugeli tend to spread in this area. The presence of the A. a. gibelio is harmful and can have a long-term negative effect on the ichthyofauna of this area, especially on endems. The ichtyomass of the salmonid river part of the Cetina varies from 25 to 38 kg/ha, with a coefficient of 45% for P/B. The Prančevići reservoir is a cold water oligothropic lake of the Salvelinus-Coregonus type, more expressed Coregonus ichthyomass of 15 to 25 kg/ha. The lake is able to produce a greater ichthymass than it does now.
